We collaborate with you to identify the needs and goals of your educational space, and strategize a garden education design, for the short and long term.
This design may result in curriculum development, landscape installation, a volunteer workday, or all of the above.
We seek over time to:
- identify and communicate desired goals
- observe space use, and curriculum
- develop and implement ideas
- observe, reflect and refine future implementation
Program
We connect the school to one of our experienced Garden Educators, who works with you to create a customized educational approach to meet your goals
Our educational philosophy is centered around participatory, project-based learning that teaches:
- Eco-literacy: science, horticulture, environmental education and stewardship
- Interdisciplinary learning: incorporating the garden as a learning tool in different disciplines including the arts, reading and writing, social sciences, STEM
- Gardening: building skills of students, teachers and staff to plant and tend a garden
Install:
We build custom gardens designed to fit with the educational goals of your school or institution. We specialize in:
- annual vegetable gardens, where students can seasonally plant and harvest
- edible perennial plantings (fruit, herb, and other edible plants)
- native plant habitat gardens, to attract pollinators, birds, butterflies
- rainwater harvesting sites, and rain gardens, that provide micro habitats for wildlife and learning
- interactive natural play spaces
Maintain
We provide skilled gardeners that coordinate land care work tailored to your site.
We specialize in organic and low impact maintenance of spaces so they are healthy and joyful spaces for students, teachers, and wildlife to grow.
